Part I: The The Social Reign of Christ the King

1. What are the principles that must govern human life, both individually and collectively in civil society?

There are limits that exist in the nature of things beyond which men have no authority or right to transgress, whether acting individually or collectively in the institutions of civil governance.

2. Who has revealed these principles and do they bind all men in all circumstances, including those of civil governance?

There are limits that have been revealed positively by God Himself in his Divine Revelation, that bind all men in all circumstances at all times, binding even the institutions of civil governance.

3. What is the nature of the concept of hierarchy in family and social life?

A divinely-instituted hierarchy exists in man’s most basic natural unit of association: the family. The father is the head of the family and governs his wife and children in accord with the binding precepts of the Divine positive law and the natural law. Children do not have the authority to disobey the legitimate commands of their parents. Parents do not have the authority to issue illegitimate and/or unjust commands.

4. How is this concept of authority demonstrated in the life of the Holy Family?

Our Lord Himself became Incarnate in Our Lady’s virginal and immaculate womb, subjecting Himself to the authority of His creatures, obeying his foster-father, Saint Joseph, as the head of the Holy Family, thus teaching us

The Protestant Revulsion to Mary

For a variety of reasons, I tend to avoid arguing with my protestant friends. For one, I stay busy teaching and defending the Catholic faith with fellow Catholics. Secondly, I’ve found that a person really needs to be open to hearing a different perspective for the possibility of productive dialogue.
 
However, when a friend says that a devotion to Mary is more repulsive than atheism, I’m inclined to speak up. (Yes, it was a Calvinist).
 
It has always struck me as illogical that protestants are so eager to ask one another-not just sinners, but those predestined to hell-to pray for them, but consider it idolatry (literally), to ask those *already in heaven* to pray for them.
 
This obstinance regarding Mary is all the more unusual given that even the most extreme fundamentalist would proclaim belief in the 10 Commandments, which even in abridged, modern translations includes the obligation to “honor father and mother”, and would even go so far as to admit that imitating Christ-the perfect, sinless man-would be a good thing (1 Cor 11:1)…so long as we don’t imitate too perfectly His honoring of His mother.
 
They recoil at statues to the mother of the King of Kings, but erect statues of earthly royalty, reformers, Masons and warmongers. They abhor pictures of the mother of God but cover their timelines with pictures of family, friends and acquaintances, all of whom are alienated from the righteousness of God and at least some of whom are no doubt completely depraved.

Why Do the Clergy Hate the Church?

Every time I see some Protestant say something I want to critique, Pope Francis opens his mouth and reminds us all that while Christ founded the Church, Bishops and Priests have been trying to destroy it ever since. (Edit: For those who are confused, scandalized or just eager to accuse: I am paraphrasing what Cardinal Consalvi said to Napoleon Bonaparte, after the latter had threatened to destroy the Church. Cardinal Consalvi said, “If in 1,800 years we clergy have failed to destroy the Church, do you really think that you’ll be able to do it?”)… Read the rest
