Beneath the light of a thousand stars,
A young lad named David, destined for afar,
A simple shepherd, his psalm on the air,
In Bethlehem’s fields, he cast a watchful stare.
Sheep in his care, in verdant pastures they lay,
His heart swelled with melodies, he let them play,
From his lips spilled songs, truths intertwined,
A poet at heart, in him, a king, God divined.
In the silence of the night, a whisper came,
A prophecy of greatness, a king in name,
Before the dawn, in the glow of the morn,
A royal destiny for David was sworn.
His lyre strummed soft, his voice so soothing,
The star of destiny, in his spirit moving,
Among the flocks, amidst the dew-kissed heath,
David, the shepherd, wore a hidden wreath.
In a vision of a city, strong and bright,
A fortress to endure through darkest night,
Jerusalem, the future’s precious stone,
The destined throne where he’d stand alone.
The Philistine giant, he would bring to his knees,
With a shepherd’s sling, and faith as his keys,
Not by might, not by power, but by spirit divine,
In the valley of Elah, David’s courage would shine.
A crown awaits, but first, trials untold,
Through caves and deserts, the story will unfold,
With every stride, every beat of his heart,
David drew closer to his kingly part.
Young David, the shepherd, gazed into the night,
Where stars wrote his future, in their holy light,
A king he’d become, his reign would prosper,
An age of wisdom, his legacy to offer.
In the tales of time, in the songs of lore,
David’s reign, a testament forevermore,
A young king’s journey from pasture to throne,
In the heart of David, God’s promise was sown.
He looked to the future, his heart unafraid,
With the strength of his faith, his destiny was made,
King David, the shepherd, under the heavenly dome,
In the future, found his eternal home.
