Prayer for a Father to Repel Storms and Protect His Home and Family

Posted on March 15, 2025 by Jeff Cassman
In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.
O Lord God of Hosts, Creator of Heaven and Earth, who set the boundaries of the sea and command the winds and the waves, I come before Thee as the head of this household, entrusted with the care of my family and the protection of our home. In humility and trust, I beg Thee, stretch forth Thy mighty hand against the storm that threatens us. Let not the tempests of the air or the powers of darkness bring harm to those whom Thou hast given me to protect.
O Christ, King of all Creation, who rebuked the storm upon the sea and brought peace to the fearful hearts of Thy disciples, command now, I pray Thee, that these winds be stilled, that this storm be turned aside, that destruction pass us by. Send Thy holy angels to stand guard over this house, to drive away all dangers, and to keep us in safety beneath the mantle of Thy Sacred Heart.
(The father now takes holy water and sprinkles it around the home, saying:)
In the Name of Jesus Christ, the King of Kings, I bless and protect this home with this holy water, a sign of God’s power over the elements. May all storms and dangers flee before the Cross of Christ. May this dwelling be marked as a place of faith, of refuge, and of peace. By the intercession of the Blessed Virgin

What about the SSPX?

Posted on July 29, 2024July 29, 2024 by Jeff Cassman

I get a lot of questions about the Society of Saint Pius the Tenth (SSPX), from well-meaning Catholics.  The bottom line about the SSPX is this:

  1. They are a fraternity of Catholic priests in communion with Pope Francis
  2. Their orders are valid.
  3. Their liturgies satisfy your Sunday obligation
  4. Their sacraments are valid.

Some lay faithful have the desire to dig more deeply into the matter and/or have been misled by enemies of Tradition on one or more of the aformentioned facts.  For those who want to learn more about the details, I’m providing some very brief resources below.

Canon Law

Can. 1248 §1. A person who assists at a Mass celebrated anywhere in a Catholic rite either on the feast day itself or in the evening of the preceding day satisfies the obligation of participating in the Mass.

The Canonical Mission of the SSPX

Pope Francis personally granted the SSPX authority to ordain and discipline priests without needing permission of the local ordinary. He named Bishop Fellay named Canonical Minister of the First Instance, and then of the Second Instance also

Permission to Ordain Priests

Pope Francis has authorized the SSPX to continue legally and licitly ordaining Priests, even without requesting permission from local Bishops (which, in some cases, they do anyway, and they always respect the Bishops, the Shepherds of the Church).

Try a New Examination of Conscience

Posted on June 15, 2021July 15, 2021 by Jeff Cassman

Sometimes it can be helpful to try a new examination of conscience to ‘poke’ your conscience.

A different series of meditations or inquiries may yield new insights into unconfessed sins.

This is an examination that follows the commandments and the precepts of the Church.

I love this examination from Father Miller, CSsR, which offers a different focus for each month of the year.

This examination was put together by a SSPX priest friend of mine that is very helpful.  (This will open a PDF for download).

The book, “Pardon and Peace”, which I recommended in my interview with TradCatKnight is available on Amazon here.… Read the rest

Dear Church Militant,

Posted on January 2, 2021June 30, 2021 by bencassman

Another victim of Michael Voris and Christine Niles’ deception and exploitation campaign has come forward, explaining in detail how they manipulated him and deceived Catholics about his experience with the SSPX. In short, Father Palmquist left the SSPX and the priesthood because of his homosexuality, and they pretended that the SSPX had groomed him and encouraged him to stay. He categorically denies their claims. Please pray for him.
